The South African Transport and Allied Workers’ Union office in Durban was burned to ashes in the fire that broke out at Redefine Towers in the city centre on Wednesday evening.
The office on the 25th floor of the building on 320 Dr Pixley Kaseme Street was completely burned as the fire sprinklers never came on to douse the flames.
SATAWU eagerly awaits the outcome of the investigation into the cause of the fire as the office had been closed for holidays since 21 December.
The cost of the damage to the union is yet to be determined.
