Matric 2022 Statement from SATAWU

October 31, 2022Sifiso MajolaUncategorizedNo comments

?????? ?????? ??? ????? ?? ???? ???? ?? ???? ????? ????? ?????.

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union, wishes the class of 2022 Matric well as
they start their final exams. We know that they will do exceptionally well and make the country
proud. The 2022 matriculants were in grade 10 in 2020, and experienced serious challenges due
to the lockdown and covid 19 pandemic, it has been very difficult for the learners, teachers and the
parents too. We also understand that the loadshedding has and still a major challenge to the
matriculants, a lot of kids could not properly prepare at home due to the loadshedding.
The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union calls on the power utility (Eskom) and
government to suspend the loadshedding where possible to help and meet the learners halfway
as they are writing and preparing for the final exams. It is indeed a sad reality that in South Africa
90% of black learners do not have access to generators and cannot afford private tutors, we there
for plea to Eskom to accommodate these learners.

We also wish to thank the Department of Basic Education for the programmes they have been
doing as a form of study guides on social media, Radio and in Television. We wish to thank the
teachers for their selfless services to the future of these kids. Teachers you are playing a huge to
the society and there’s no better words to express our gratitude to all of you, with the challenges
that you face on a daily basis.
We are calling on relevant stakeholders both in the private and public sector to open doors
especially for those who are disadvantaged from the rural areas to donate with anything that can
assist such as tablets and free Wifi.

SATAWU would also want to urge parents to support their kids at all costs, at home, they must
give them time to rest, time to study and not to give them unnecessary pressure.
To the class of 2022, you are the future of this country, Your dream is valid and today it’s the
beginning of your dream. Where you come from , does not determine your future. We believe in
you. Make us proud, but more than anything, make yourselves proud. You are capable, you can
do it.

BEST OF LUCK.
