EMPLOYER TABLES A NEW OFFER

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU) met with the employer in the Private Security Sector, on the 1st of September 2022 to submit its picketing rules for the planned National Strike to commence on the 26th of September in the Sector, only if the employer does not give a bitter and a reasonable offer between now and the 12th of this month.

When handing over the picket rules the employer tabled a new offer, however as a Union, we take a mandate from our workers and members, we, therefore, could not take nor reject the new proposal before our members could discuss whether to consider the offer or not.

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union would like to invite its members and Workers in the Security Sector for the new offer mandatory purposes, The meetings will take place as follows:

Gauteng Province

1. Tshwane / Pretoria – MASS General Meeting

Date: 3rd September 2022

Venue : Church Square

Time : 07:00 – 09:00

2. Johannesburg – MASS General Meeting

Date : 04th September 2022

Venue: Library Gardens

Time: 07h00 – 09h00

3. Johannesburg – SATAWU Shop stewards Council

Date : 6th September 2022

Venue : SATAWU HOUSE

Time : 09H00 – 13H00

KwaZulu-Natal

4. Pietermaritzburg Mass General Meeting

Date: 10th September 2022

Venue : Market Square , Peitermaritzburg

Time: 07:00 – 09:00

5. Durban – Shop stewards Council

Date : 10th September 2022

Venue: Diakona Centre

Time: 08H00 – 13H00

6. Durban Central Mass General Meeting

Date : 11th September 2022

Venue : Bothas Park, Durban

Time : 07:00 – 09:00

Western Cape

7. Shop stewards Council

Date: 07th September 2022

Venue: 41 Community House; Salt River, Cape Town

09h00 – 13h00

8. Mass General Meeting

Date : 08th September 2022

Venue: Phillipi Train Station, Cape Town

Time : 07:00 – 09:00

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union would like to inform its members in other provinces that, it will keep them updated on the dates and venues in their respective provinces regarding this matter and the meeting will definitely take place in all our provinces before the 11th of September.

SATAWU has a responsibility to protect and fight for its members, we, therefore, wish to emphasize that the decision on whether to take the revised offer or would, is that one of our members.

We wish our members and workers fruitful engagements starting from tomorrow.

We need a good wage not peanuts, or else we go to street at least R8,700 a month

Ehhhh… How far are you with negotiations, are we still going on strike or you’ve reached an agreement with the employer?
