For Immediate Release

07th June 2022

SATAWU IS PLEASED WITH KZN PRASA PROGRESS AFTER THE FLOODS.

The South African Transport and Allied Worker’s Union SATAWU , is pleased with the progress made by the Passenger Rail Agency Of South Africa (PRASA) in KwaZulu-Natal as it has announced its resumption as from the 06th of June 2022 , between KwaMashu and Dalbridge , the most used routines in the Province.

The resumption of the services is indeed a huge relief to our Members, Workers and Commuters generally as thousands of our members rely on trains as their daily transportation to and from their work destinations. The past few months have been very difficult as the services were cancelled due to floods that damaged the infrastructure in April this year.

SATAWU also notes that KwaZulu Natal has been the centre of cable theft recently, leading to the poor service delivery in the railway sector. We call upon everyone to report this criminality to the Law Enforcement Agencies, doing so we will all have access to safe, secure and convenient environment. Your safety is our Priority.

We also wish to commend the officials and staff members at PRASA for the work that they have done in a such short period of time in ensuring that our people have access to the service delivery again. We hope that soon the railway trains will be operating through the Province.
