SATAWU Worried about Autopax Part-paid Salaries

March 2, 2020Zanele SabelaBuses, Passenger Trasport, Press ReleasesNo comments

South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU) is gravely concerned Autopax staff have been paid only 25% of their salaries for February.

State-owned Autopax is a subsidiary of Prasa and operates Translux and City to City buses.

SATAWU is particularly concerned that this comes so soon after workers were paid just 50% of their salaries at the end of January – though the balance was paid to workers within the week. However, we are devastated that this time around management has not been able to confirm when the balance will be paid.

Workers are demoralised and are not certain how to react to the latest news. SATAWU is set to meet with the Prasa Administrator Bngisizwe Mpondo this coming Wednesday to engage him on this matter.

Autopax has been under immense financial strain over the past year but it appears the situation is worsening.
