The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union says it is disappointed at South African Airways CEO Vuyani Jarana’s resignation.
Jarana cited a lack of support for the ailing airline’s turnaround strategy and uncertainty about funding as reasons for his resignation.
Satawu spokesperson Zanele Sabela said Jarana had a plan for taking the airline forward.
“There were a few measures that were pointing to things going in a certain direction as he had centralised procurement to make sure costs were controlled,” Sabela said.
